Clear solutions,
simple logistics

Logistics planning - conceptual and in-depth

After conducting the Quick Check audit we can undertake planning of logistics in the enterprise. We finally have the sufficient amount of analytical data and the conclusions thanks to which the new warehouse versions will be more efficient and allow for savings. We distinguish two stages of logistics planning:

  1. Conceptual planningMaster Plan
  2. Detailed planningDetail Plan

Due to the form of the building, infrastructure, the structure of orders or technical specification of devices, there are no two identical solutions for warehouse logistics.

Master Plan - conceptual planning

We start the execution of the logistics projects with a general Master Plan prepared by us based on the following:

  1. universal principles, such as:
    • chaotic storage,
    • separate goods flow streams,
    • ABC structures of storage, etc
  2. 2. technical solutions, including:
    • shelf systems,
    • conveying devices,
    • automatic completion systems
  3. and based on customer needs

Master Plan elements

As part of conceptual planning:

  • we conduct an analysis of the data concerning orders and processes taking place in the enterprise (based on the Quick Check audit)
  • we develop 2-3 warehouse designs with justification of the technologies applied
  • we estimate the costs of implementing the warehouse optimisation plan

Detail Plan - detailed planning

For each company we develop a dedicated Detail Plan, which includes a unique idea for better logistics. For example, it can include a specific principles of goods acceptance or method of sorting and distributing in the warehouse.

The Detail Plan elements include:

  • detailed planning of the goods flow logistics
  • development of requirements concerning the new warehouse organisation
  • detailed description of the warehouse functionality and automation
  • WMS warehouse system design
  • project parameters technical specification

Parameters taken into account in the Detail Plan

The concepts are created during intense case studies in combination with Customer and their recipients’ expectations. Automatic warehouse or completion systems are designed after analysing Customer expectations, with consideration of such parameters as:

  • specifics and physical properties of goods
  • goods flow streams
  • planned growth / extrapolation
  • conditions and possibilities on the labour market in the plant’s vicinity
  • capability to fund the project
  • infrastructure availability (lot, hall)

In modern consulting companies, such as LL Services, planning and description of logistics processes is done with the use of innovative solutions, such as 3D modelling and virtual reality. See how it is done in our company:
