Logistics project

A well-designed company logistics project influences the efficiency not only of the warehouse, but also of the production and distribution departments, and to a large extent determines the profitability of the entire business, as the logistician is an inseparable component of your company's processes and cost chain. Want to increase the process efficiency of your company? See how to properly prepare a logistics project.

What you can gain?

  • your logistic processes are well thought-out, efficient and tailored to your business
  • optimise your logistics costs
  • you will use the potential of your resources
  • you will avoid making the wrong logistical investment decisions

5 logistics project stages

We prepare a complex logistics project in our company based on five points:

  1. Quick audit (Quick Check)

    • audit of logistics projects and getting acquainted with the current situation
    • expert’s opinion on the current state of the warehouse
    • proposal of warehouse processes’ optimisation

  2. Conceptual planning (Master Plan)

    • analysis of the data on processes and orders
    • preparation of two warehouse projects with justification
    • estimation of the costs of implementing the warehouse optimisation plan

  3. Detailed planning (Detail Plan)

    • detailed planning of the company’s logistics, including the requirements concerning the warehouse’s new organisation
    • detailed description of the processes of functionality and automation
    • WMS warehouse system design
    • project parameters technical specification

  4. Project execution (Project Management)

    • invitation for tender
    • analysis of supplier submissions
    • technical documentation verification
    • commissioning supervision
    • support in implementing warehouse automation

  5. Post-implementation support (Consulting)

    • continuous auditing of logistics processes
    • warehouse optimisation proposals
    • shift management
    • logistics consulting

Design your logistics properly

Effective planning starts with the correct structure and method of collecting data about the enterprise - quantitative information about the following:

  • orders
  • goods flow volumes
  • transfer pieces
  • intensity during a day or shift (order profile – day profile)

The development of the aforementioned data gives the ability to create a mathematical model to base further logistics planning on, choose adequate processes and check their financial effectiveness.

What to plan first – the process or building?

The most optimal parameters for the process efficiency of a warehouse can be achieved when flow processes and their automation are taken into account even before planning the construction of the facility. However, such situations are rare; in most cases, we plan changes to the warehouse in existing facilities. Depending on the form of company expansion adopted, process planning requires different approaches and involves different decisions and problems:

  • when building a new hall, we have the greatest possibilities, but these must be subordinated to process needs,
  • when renting additional space, we are limited by the parameters of the available premises,
  • when extending an existing warehouse, we need to safeguard the continuity of existing processes and also establish a compromise between the efficiency and capacity of the new space

Does your company need to optimise its warehouse? We will select the most advantageous solutions for your company and provide you with an ROI (return on logistics investment) period.
